How Disney helped me lose 100 lbs…

Hey friends! My name is Ashlee, owner of Many Adventures. So, it’s no secret by now that I’m Disney obsessed, but this was an obsession I never saw coming. It’s easy for me to talk about Disney; I could talk about it all day long and most days I do! But, when it comes to talking about myself, especially something as sensitive as the topic of weight, that is very uncomfortable for me. But you never know who your story could impact or inspire, so here we go…

A few years ago, I had come out of a difficult time and had picked up a lot of emotional stress that packed on the pounds. Trying to battle the blues and fight a war against weight felt like 2 losing battles. All the while, trying to be present with my family and being thankful for my blessings. In the attempt to make fun memories with my family, we went to a theme park near our home. Turns out, the day meant for memories and happiness turned into a day that left me feeling worse than ever. I sent my husband on every ride with my daughter, in fear that I wasn’t going to fit on the ride. I became a bystander to the memories I wanted to experience with my daughter.

Then we squeezed in a trip to Walt Disney World! Preparing myself for the same devastation that I had experienced at our theme park near home, my focus shifted to my daughter making magical core memories that would stay with her always. But that day turned out nothing like I had anticipated. It was pure magic for all three of us! I rode ALL the rides with my daughter! I laughed, I cried (happy tears this time), I filled my phone with so many pictures and videos and was no longer a bystander to the memories we were making!

Something inside of me changed while soaring around on Dumbo, sailing with Pirates, bouncing in a honey pot and spinning in a teacup. My passion grew bigger than my problems that day!

After returning home from our Disney trip, we booked another trip immediately and it was time for me to get to work! I changed my eating habits and bought an elliptical. For the first time in forever, (yes Disney pun intended) I was 100% committed to the changes I was making and was ready to fight with everything in me!

Here we are 2 years later, 10 Disney trips behind me, 100 lbs. less of me and unlimited Disney memories that are waiting! All I needed was Faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust!
